Family night at the library. Join us for a fun activity for the whole family.

  • June 10: Puzzle Races 
    We have 2 levels of puzzles to build, beginner & intermediate. Build one or both puzzles together as a family and record your time. We'll determine the fastest puzzle building team at the end of the night and crown the Smithfield Puzzle Champions!
  • June 17: Disney Musical BINGO 
    Compete as a family as you listen to Disney musical hits and strive to get BINGO before any one else. 
  • June 24: Interactive Movie (begins at 5 pm)
    Get ready to brandish your swords, repeat key lines and shout at characters as we watch The Princess Bride together. We'll provide the supplies and you'll supply the fun!
  • July 1: Family Spelling Bee
    As a family, collaborate to spell your way to victory!
  • July 8: Break-Out Bags
    Solve a series of puzzles to break into a locked bag containing a game to play together & treat. Stay & play or try to break into another bag of family fun!
  • July 15: Family 'Around the World' Trivia
    Play against other families to see how much random knowledge you have about the world around you.
  • July 22: Family Storytime
    Bring a blanket & snuggle together for storytime fun with the library!

Trail Science for Tweens

Trail Science for Tweens
Tuesday in June @ 4 pm

Get ready to go on an earth science adventure and learn more about the beautiful mountains and canyons surrounding Smithfield! Our library director Shawn invites tweens ages 9-13 to ask questions, work on experiments, and make crafts as we explore the Four Elements of Cache Valley Nature:

  • June 4: Fire - Wildfires and their importance to forest health
  • June 11: Earth - Limestone, karst, and marine fossils on mountaintops
  • June 18: Water - Watersheds, snowpack, and canyon ecosystems
  • June 25: Air - Canyon winds, mountain thermals, and extreme temperatures

Join us as we focus on early literacy through movement, songs, stories, dance, and exploration of musical concepts and instruments. Children and their caregivers will have fun exploring music and dance together! For ages birth to 5 with an adult caregiver.

Wednesdays 5-7 pm

Delve into dangerous caves, climb perilous peaks, strategize with your trusty party--or eat some stinky cheese. The story you experience is up to you and your dice! Come have some fun and play with your friends.

Storytime in the Park

Join Miss Karen in Smithfield's Central Park, just north of the library for a storytime under the bright summer skies. Bring a blanket and listen to stories, sing songs & move your bodies at this super fun storytime program for families of all ages!

Stitch and Stories

Thursday @ 1 pm

Bring your fiber crafts to the library and listen to stories while you stitch. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, tatting, quilting... whatever your preference. It's like a book club for fiber artists!

  • June 20: "Adventure Begins at Your Library" 
    We'll be reading a real-life adventure book to go along with the library's summer reading program. Borrow from the library, Libby, or your home library. Read and come share the adventure with our book group.
  • July 18: "One of These Things is Not Like the Other!"
    This month, read a book, any book. Then come to share with the group. You'll leave with a whole list of book recommendations. 
Lincoln Highway Program

Lincoln Highway Read-Along Challenge
June 12-June26

For our adult summer reading challenge we are doing a novel read along. Read The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles, following the dates in the books. Meet the challenge to join the library for a Finale Party on June 26 at 6 pm. Earn entries into our prize drawing and have a really cool reading experience with the library.

Emotional education and awareness through crafting! Meet with a CAPSA representative to do a fun craft while learning about things like confidence building, upstanding, and emotional resilience.

June 25: Discuss choosing peace over violence & painting “positivity rocks”.
