OBTAINING A LIBRARY ACCOUNT

It's easy as 1, 2, 3

     1. Bring with you a photo ID and a proof of address.
     2. Fill out an application. These are available at the front desk or print one HERE. They ask you for some basic contact information.
     3. Start using your library account. 

You can set up a user name & PIN for access to your online library account at home and we'll take care of getting your Libby account set up (this can take up to 48 hours after creating your library account).

What types of ID do we accept?

• Any State or Federal ID (If you’re moving in from out of state, don’t worry. It doesn’t have to be from the state of Utah. We just need to see that it’s you.)
• School IDs
• Passports
• Veteran or Military IDs
• Public Assistance ID

What Counts as Proof of Address?

A document with your name as it appears on your ID and your address. This includes:

• Smithfield city utility bills
• Mortgage or lease documents
• Bank statements
• Bills 
• Insurance papers
• Mail from a government entity

We accept paper statements and electronic statements.

Can Kids Get Their Own Accounts?

Yes! Children over 10 can get an account with a parent or guardian’s signature on the application.

Can Other Members of My Family Use My Account?

Yes, you can name specific people as users of your account when you fill out the library account application. You can also add or remove users later by talking to a staff member at the circulation desk.

Can I Get an Account If I Don’t Live in Smithfield?

Yes. We have nonresident cards available for a small annual fee.

    Family account fee: $50 a year (limit of 30 items on account)
    Individual account fee:  $25 a year (limit of 10 items on account)

Audio Books: 21 days/$0.05 per day  (limit 6)

DVD: 1 week/$1.00  per day  (limit 4)

Periodicals: 7 days/$0.05 per day  limit (5)

Music CD:  7 days/$0.05 per day  limit (3)

Telescope/Microscope:  7 days/$5.00 per day

Kindles:  2 weeks/$5.00 per day

Hotspots:  7 days/$5.00 per day

OTHER FEES:
Printing/Copying:  Black and White  $0.10/page; Color $1.00/page
Lost Items: Replacement Cost of Item
Damages: Varies
