Fire Department
Our mission is to Care for, Protect and Serve our communities, by providing Emergency Medical Services, Fire Protection, Prevention, and Public Education with Compassion, Courage, and Professionalism.
It is our goal to be an agency resembling and proportionate to the communities we serve, with a focus on quality and cost effectiveness in an all-hazards environment, exemplifying the traits of High Reliability Organizations.

Smithfield Fire and EMS provides Paramedic Ambulance services to the communities of Smithfield, Hyde Park, Richmond, Amalga, Newton, Clarkston, Trenton, Cornish, Lewiston and all unincorporated areas of Cache County north of 3000 North.
In total, we serve 140,100 people and cover 176 square miles! Of that, Smithfield is 14,425; Hyde park is 5,584; Amalga is 511; Richmond is 3,024.
On average we run 1,200 calls per year with six people on duty around the clock, allowing us to send out up to three ambulances, two Engine companies or a combination of both!
Smithfield Fire Department holds these values to be core to our very purpose and essential to meeting our mission and reaching our vision.
Integrity: We acknowledge that our relationship with the public we serve must be based on truth and trust.
Accountability: Each member must answer for every action to their supervisors, peers, subordinates, and most importantly, the public we serve.
Training: We do not take our knowledge, skills, or abilities for granted. We aggressively strive to hone what we have, and continually reach for more.
Intuition: We seek to improve our situational awareness in everything we do.
Ready State: We consistently ask the question: “What can go wrong and are we prepared for it?”
Mentorship: We consider it an obligation and an honor to share what we have learned with each other.
Respect: We hold in high regard the feelings, wishes, rights, and traditions of others.
