Our mission is to Care for, Protect and Serve our communities, by providing Emergency Medical Services, Fire Protection, Prevention, and Public Education with Compassion, Courage, and Professionalism.

It is our goal to be an agency resembling and proportionate to the communities we serve, with a focus on quality and cost effectiveness in an all-hazards environment, exemplifying the traits of High Reliability Organizations.

Smithfield Fire and EMS serves the residents and businesses of Smithfield, Hyde Park, Richmond, Amalga and the surrounding areas of Cache County including Benson in northern Utah.

Additionally, we respond through automatic aid on the initial call to structure and wildland fires in North Logan, River Heights, Providence, Logan and Trenton.

The department also responds to any community throughout Cache County or Franklin County, Idaho when requested.

Smithfield Fire and EMS provides Paramedic Ambulance services to the communities of Smithfield, Hyde Park, Richmond, Amalga, Newton, Clarkston, Trenton, Cornish, Lewiston and all unincorporated areas of Cache County north of 3000 North.

In total, we serve 140,100 people and cover 176 square miles! Of that, Smithfield is 14,425; Hyde park is 5,584; Amalga is 511; Richmond is 3,024. 

On average we run 1,200 calls per year with six people on duty around the clock, allowing us to send out up to three ambulances, two Engine companies or a combination of both!
