Youth Council
Are you looking for an opportunity to be able to hang out with your friends? Do you love to serve? Come join the Smithfield City Youth Council! SCYC activities are centered around supporting annual City, Recreation Center and Chamber of Commerce activities throughout the school year.
All 10th - 12th grade youth (apply as a 9th - 11th grader) residing in Smithfield City who are passionate about serving others are invited to join our group of 40-45 youth council.
The membership period of August 1st through May 31st.
Our normal meeting times are the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings at 8:30 P.M. at the City Office from September to May. Many of the activities we assist with are on Fridays and Saturdays.
The application period will close on Friday, April 19th. Interviews will be set up shortly after the application deadline.
First-time applicants must bring two letters of recommendation to their interview. (Returning applicants do not need letters of recommendation)
There is an Executive Council composed of 8-9 youth who learn and practice leadership skills to run the council with the support of adult advisors. Executive Members are selected from those who have previously been actively involved in SCYC for at least one year. If you are a returning SCYC member and want to be on the Executive Board, please also complete the leadership application in Section 2 of the application.
