URGENT - Outdoor Watering Restriction Effective Immediately (Click Here)

***URGENT, TUEDAY, OCTOBER 4TH***

Due to the mechanical failure of one of our culinary water wells, Smithfield City is restricting all outdoor watering starting immediately.

Please stop all outdoor watering immediately!

Please comply with this restriction to help maintain the required level of water in our tanks for indoor use.

We will provide a future timeline as the repair progresses.

We appreciate your cooperation in the matter. 

***UPDATE, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18TH***

We wanted to provide an update on the culinary well repair. 

The required repair is going to take a long period of time to obtain the required parts, complete the repair and reinstall the parts in the well. The parts which failed are located several hundred feet down in the ground so it is not a simple repair. 

Outdoor watering with culinary/drinking water is prohibited for the rest of the year. 

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter!! It has made a tremendous difference as we have been able to keep our tanks full and have enough water for indoor use for all of the businesses and residences in the city. By keeping the tanks full, it also helps in case of an emergency situation should one arise. 

This is for culinary/drinking water use only. This is not for irrigation water use.
