Recycling Service

Blue Can

Logan City has operated a co-mingled, mandatory curbside recycling program since 2006.  Smithfield City is continuing this program with Econo Waste Inc. Recycling service is an additional cost and is paid for on your utility bill with your garbage service. This service is not optional and there is not a way to opt-out. If you need an extra recycling service, you can have multiple blue recycling carts. Each extra blue recycling cart has an additional cost.  Simply call our office at (435) 563-6226 or email info@smithfieldcity.org  to sign up for extra recycling service.

The 2024 Recycling Schedule can be found at the bottom of this page.

Tips for Recycle Day

Tips to help us to provide YOU with the BEST possible service!

Have your cans/carts out the curb the night before your collection day. Routes times may vary often and without notice.

The front of your container should face the street when your can/cart is on the curb for collection.

Carts must be three (3) to four (4) feet from each other and other objects such as mailboxes, telephone poles, trees, and vehicles.

Please DO NOT bag recyclable materials or green waste materials.

Please do not overfill your container. Anything longer than four (4) feet is too large for any of the containers. Please cut down large tree branches and boxes.

Please DO NOT dispose of televisions, motor oil, car batteries, paint, or other hazardous or flammable waste in your containers.  Many household hazardous waste items can be disposed of for NO CHARGE at the Logan City landfill. Please call (435) 716-9777 for more information.

As per city Smithfield City code 8.20.030, please do NOT allow your recycling cans/carts to sit out on the street for longer than 24 hours before and after your collection day. During snowy weather, moving your cans from the street will help our snow removal professionals.

Please DO NOT put glass in your blue curbside recycling container. Glass is very dangerous to those that sort recyclable materials.

Please DO NOT put hot ashes or coals in your automated containers. If your container melts, you will be responsible for the replacement fee.
